SATURDAY! Rhinebeck Democratic Caucus

Calling Rhinebeck residents! Don’t let the Republicans hijack our caucus again!

A Democratic caucus to fill the seats on the Town Board will be held in Rhinebeck at the Town Hall on Saturday September 9th, 10:00 am.

Elizabeth Spinzia is running as the incumbent for Town Supervisor and there are two Town Board seats with three qualified Democrat candidates competing for the spots:

Brennan Kearney is running for the first time with new ideas and fresh perspective
Chauncey Walker stepped in to fill a vacancy and is running for a full term this time around.
Joe Gelb has served for 8 years and would like to continue his tenure.

Rhinebeck is counting on us to keep the Republicans from hijacking our caucus. You must live in Rhinebeck, be a registered Democrat and show up!

There will be caucuses throughout the District. For more information contact us at info@hudsonvalleystrong.org

[CORRECTION NOTE: In the email sent out 9/4/17, we incorrectly stated that Joe Gelb has served for 12 years on the board. Mr. Gelb has served for 8 years. We regret the error.]

A Change is Gonna Come

Dear Fellow Activists,

Last month we shared the exciting news that Hudson Valley Strong will be partnering with Indivisible The Fight Is On (ITFIO) to provide the strongest possible platform to support political activism to protect our people and values while resisting Trump and his reactionary agenda. The previously unimaginable events of the past few weeks that saw neo Nazis, KKK and violent white supremacists marching through the streets of Charlottesville and Trumps strident defense of their actions underscore the challenges we face and the need to work in strong coalition.

We are proud to work side by side with the members of ITFIO and feel fortunate we can strengthen our efforts by extending our reach to magnify the impact of our actions. As part of our efforts ITFIO will be sending out their weekly Action Priorities to all Hudson Valley Strong members. This email includes timely information about political developments as well as a focused listing of high impact actions that we can all take. In the event you do not wish to be included on the Action Priorities mailing list, please let us know. But please be assured that your email address will remain confidential and will not be shared with any other group or used by any campaign. As the summer draws to a close please look in your email inbox for a brief survey where you can share your thoughts and opinions on how you would like to direct your activism and how you would like to engage in these efforts.

Yours in activism,

Hudson Valley Strong Steering Committee

The fight is on!

Dear Fellow Activists,

We are excited to let you know that Hudson Valley Strong will be partnering with Indivisible The Fight Is On (ITFIO), a Dutchess County based coordinating organization comprised of sixteen community based teams. These teams, like Hudson Valley Strong, operate autonomously and locally while working together as a larger network to strengthen our voice and extend our reach.

Political action, individually and in coalition, has been the cornerstone of Hudson Valley Strong, and this partnership with ITFIO allows us to better achieve our goals. We will benefit from the scale, reach and shared resources and expertise of the larger ITFIO network while maintaining our identity and autonomy as a Northern Dutchess County based group with members from around the greater Hudson Valley. Rima Liscum will be spearheading the Hudson Valley Strong efforts in alliance with ITFIO.

Locally based meetings and actions will continue and there will be additional opportunities to join larger ITFIO initiatives. We now also have access to extensive resources including a comprehensive set of weekly action priorities, larger ITFIO sponsored countywide and CD 19 events, and social events to network with fellow activists from across our region.

All Hudson Valley Strong members are cordially invited to ITFIO’s August Social to be held at Mahoney’s Pub at the Poughkeepsie Train Station (35 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY) on Saturday, August 5th from 4 to 6 pm. This event will feature guest speaker Michael Kink who will address the New York Constitutional Convention. In addition, you will be able to meet local candidates including Robin Lois (Dutchess County Comptroller), Christie Acker (State Supreme Court Justice) and others. Please RSVP to judy.itfio@gmail.com if you will be able to attend.

Hudson Valley Strong was founded to provide its membership with a prominent platform to support their political activism. We are proud of our member’s incredible efforts to deliver on that vision, and we are confident that partnering with ITFIO will sustain that success well into the future.

Yours in activism,

Hudson Valley Strong Steering Committee
