Again we say that this current Trumpcare proposal isn’t worth analyzing, yet it is important to point out that there is literally ‘no meaningful protection’ for those with pre-existing conditions and that the latest, ‘worsetest’ potential ploy is to allow states to race to the bottom on setting minimum ‘essential benefits’ (required coverages), even for employer provided coverage. Remember, this would allow states to freely apply the lowest minimum state standard for essential benefits in their state. The ‘race to the bottom’ ploy is one that we are seeing more and more by Republicans as a way to short-circuit their legislative weakness in Congress and in many populous state governments.

Sample Phone Call to Rep. Faso
Hello, I am [name], and I live in [town-county-zip]. I am a constituent of Rep. Faso.
I have heard that Rep. Faso is ‘undecided’ about his AHCA vote. I find that outrageous. This bill so clearly will hurt so many people in our district, and doesn’t provide any meaningful coverage for people with pre-existing conditions — people who he has many times vowed to protect — and even hurt people who have employer-based care.
Is this the case? What is Rep. Faso’s position today?
If he is still ‘undecided,’ express your feelings, for example:
I am outraged by Rep. Faso joining in the continued Republican efforts to hurt everyday American families in order to give largess to the wealthy and corporations.
There are so many real challenges that Congress could be working on – I urge Rep. Faso to stop wasting his time with bad proposals that have little support. He should get to work on things that will solve REAL problems here in our district and in the US.
I ask that Rep. Faso to publicly oppose the AHCA, and to state his opposition to ANY and ALL changes to the ACA that don’t actually improve it for people here in NY-19 and across the United States.
