Rep. Faso’s April 13th Television ‘Town Hall’ – Call, Rally & Post to Social Media!
WMHT PBS Thirteen will host a so-called ‘Town Hall’ with Congressman John Faso on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 8-9pm at their studios in Troy (notably, NOT in CD-19). This New York NOW Special Edition will be moderated by managing editor, Matt Ryan and Casey Seiler of the Times Union. It will be broadcast live on in Binghamton and will be live-streamed at wmht.org, nynow.org and WMHT’s Facebook page. The livestream will include an additional 15 minutes of web-exclusive Q&A.
Post to Social Media Before and During the Event
While the approximately 60 tickets were snapped up right away (activists are in the audience – more on that AFTER the event), you can post questions on social media using the hashtag #FasoTownHall. We encourage you to do so!
The event organizers state that they will review these posts before, during and after the event. Even if your question is not specifically asked, journalists will be reviewing these posts so you can influence their coverage.
For a refresher on things that you might wish to ask Faso, go to the Hudson Valley Strong’s website (look at our prior Calls to Action and Position Papers) and Twitter feed.
Rally Outside the Station in Troy from 7:30 – 9P – National Media is Expected
Even those of us without tickets can join others and rally outside the station. Ask Rep. Faso to hold a real town hall, with his constituents, in his district. Feel free to bring a sign (no stick) to express your thoughts about his ‘no town hall’ policy, or on his many recent votes against our interests and in favor of the wealthy and corporations. Or ask him why he’s not doing his duty and calling for independent investigations into Trump’s conflicts of interest and possible collusion with Russia.
National print and electronic media is expected at this event so the more people that attend, the better!
Many of our friends from the “Faso-less Town Hall” in Kingston will be there — thanks to Citizen’s Action NY for taking the lead on organizing this event. While no RSVP is required, please let us know by reply if you plan to attend.
When: 7:30 – 9P
Where: WMHT Educational – outside – 4 Global View, Troy, New York 12180
Sample Call to Rep. Faso
Hello, I am [first name, last name] from [town, zip code] and I would like to object to the fact that Rep. Faso refuses to hold open, public meetings in our district so that all of his constituents can a chance to meet with him. He appears to have time to meet with donors and corporations – he should also make time to meet with us, the people that he was elected to represent. Private events, ticketed events with tiny audiences, tv and radio appearances aren’t good enough. Rep. Faso should show the strength of character to meet and talk directly with us. How can he know what we think if he doesn’t meet with us? Please let him know how I feel.
